In fact, robot technology has brought all-round changes to human, including human thinking and life style. In the film Bicentennial Man released in 1999, robot housekeeper Andrew has not only gained equal rights as citizens, but also been allowed to marry human. Some British scholars predicted lately that human will probably marry robot.
Although Martyn Ford has discussed the possible economic inequality and instability in the last chapter "New Economic Model" in his book, there is no good answer to how to create a secure and prosperous future in the future. Maybe worries about "whether robot will treat man as pet" can be balanced out by human free will, subjective initiative and creativity. Robot technology is a powerful helper as well as a critical test to human being. The result could be destructive if there is no awareness of it in advance.
Since robot technology has brought all-round changes to human, it is necessary to carry out comprehensive and systematic research on robot in advance so as to set ethic and pre-warning system for robot manufacturing. Nobody knows what highly intelligent robot will do in the future, but the downside risks can be reduced greatly by the early establishment of strict pre-warning and restriction mechanism. Certainly it needs self-giving cooperation in every levels and it eventually depends on the developing extent of human civilization since robot is a crystal of human civilization.
