(OFweek) – SAP recently announced HANA Cloud Platform for IoT. It also planned to partner with Siemens AG and Intel to expand its IoT product portfolio.
Bernd Leukert, Executive President of SAP, released HCP for the IoT (HANA Cloud Platform IoT) and pointed out the applications of the platform in connected vehicle, logistics, smart city and smart automatic vender system. “We can take advantage of the products’ data flow and make real-time data processing and increase the HANA Cloud Platform’s richness by relying on the predictive ability. It is directly connected to your existing business and that’s the key to success.”
The platform which adopts SAP technologies such as predictive analysis, remote message processing and geo-location enables the enterprises to connect to the marginal equipment of their businesses.
SAP is now deploying HCP for IoT in the enterprise’s private cloud or it can be used by the enterprise to operate an equipment cloud service customer.
To cooperate with Siemens and Intel can be considered the second step of SAP to boost IoT.
Intel will provide SAP with the inter-operational blueprint for IoT which will work with HANA platform to simplify and speed up the deployment. SAP noted that the first step for cooperation was to make concept integration to integrate Intel’s IoT Gateway and SAP’s Cloud.
For Siemens, this Germany-based enterprise will adopt HCP to construct its own industrial cloud. The purpose of combining the cloud is to allow the customers to analyze large-scale data set and dig the value among the IoT sensor data. Siemens noted that it planned to maintain the openness of the IT ecosystem to the developers and manufacturers based on HCP.
SAP’s efforts in IoT are not that surprising. SAP is always dedicated to expanding the business coverage to the IoT field. For example, it collaborated with the global IoT platform supplier Jasper in March 2015. Under the terms of the agreement between the two parties, Jasper agreed to integrate its own platform with SAP’s HANA platform.
