(OFweek) – China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the first white paper for sensors on October 22. The white paper shows that China’s domestic sensor market has been continuously rapidly developing in recent years with an average growth rate of over 20% and it is expected to expand quickly. However, the overall technology level is comparatively low and the high-end products are heavily relying on import.

The white paper indicates that the growth rate of China’s domestic sensor market had exceeded 20% from 2009 to 2013 and the market scale in 2014 is expected to surpass RMB 86 billion. China’s sensor market is estimated to develop rapidly and stably in next five years with the average sales growth rate to reach over 30%.
Four major application fields of China’s domestic sensor in 2013 were industry, automotive electronics products, communication electronics products, consumer electronics dedicated equipment. The industrial and automotive electronics account for about 42% of the total sensor market shares while automotive electronics and communication electronics application are the fastest growing markets.
